Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) FIRST TRAILER
Netflix is taunting fans with the release of the first official trailer for the highly anticipated upcoming horror sequel, Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Netflix released the first official trailer for the highly anticipated reboot-sequel of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. In 1974, horror fans were first introduced to the cannibalistic serial killer Leatherface and his equally creepy family in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which has gone on to spawn multiple sequels and reboots over the years. While the upcoming horror film is the ninth movie in the series, it will act as a direct sequel to the original film, following a trend that has recently been seen in the genre with the latest installment in the Halloween series and Jordan Peele’s Candyman.
The upcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre film will see a group of young individuals who are interested in a new business venture in a small Texas town, unaware that a chainsaw-swinging masked cannibal calls that tiny Texas town home. Texas Chainsaw Massacre is directed by David Blue Garcia and produced by Evil Dead director Fede Alvarez, who also co-wrote the story of the film that was later turned into a screenplay by Chris Thomas Devlin.
David Blue Garcia (Tejano) directed the movie for Legendary, which was written by Chris Thomas Devlin and filmed last year. The film is a sequel to Tobe Hooper’s original classic. “The movie takes place years after the shocking events of the original, in a setting where Leatherface hasn’t been seen or heard from since. The film seeks to pick up where the Hooper and Kim Henkel film initially left off, bringing the most notorious horror franchise back to life in the same bold and provocative manner that it was first introduced to the world.” Alvarez previously explained this new vision of Leatherface to EW, “It’s basically the same character, who is still alive. Our take on it was this guy probably disappeared after everything he’s done. You know, how do you catch a guy who has a mask? Once he removes the mask and runs away, it’s very easy for him to hide somewhere. This story will pick it up many, many years after the original story. He’s been in hiding for a long, long time, trying to be a good person. “These people arriving in this town are going to awaken the giant,” Alvarez exclaims. Elsie Fisher (“Castle Rock”), Sarah Yarkin (Happy Death Day 2U), Mark Burnham (Wrong Cops), Moe Dunford (The Dig), Olwen Fouéré (Mandy), Alice Krige (“Star Trek”), Jacob Latimore (The Maze Runner), Nell Hudson (Victoria), Jessica Allain (The Laundromat), Sam Douglas (Snatch), William Hope (Dark Shadows), and Jolyon Coy (“War & Peace”) star. Alvarez is producing with Bad Hombre’s Rodolfo Sayagues, alongside Kim Henkel (co-writer of the 1974 film), Ian Henkel and Pat Cassidy, who are producing via their Exurbia Films.
Leatherface will be slicing his way onto Netflix on February 18, 2022!
